Compost and soil regeneration activity at Terraregen farm

Regenerating Land Β· Securing Water Β· Empowering Communities

Circular farming systems that turn waste into fertility and farms into resilient livelihoods.

Terraregen Solution develops practical regenerative agriculture models that combine crops, fish ponds, small livestock, organic inputs, water-smart irrigation, and demonstration learning across Northern Uganda.

The Challenge

Soil, water, and income challenges are connected. The solution must be connected too.

Many smallholder farms depend on rain-fed production, costly chemical inputs, and single-enterprise income. Terraregen responds with integrated production systems that restore soil while creating practical income pathways.

01

Declining soil fertility

Low organic matter and rising input costs weaken yields and margins.

02

Water insecurity

Rain-fed farming increases exposure to dry spells and climate shocks.

03

Limited youth and women income

Few local demonstration sites show how to build profitable circular farms.

About Terraregen

A Ugandan regenerative enterprise building visible, teachable, and replicable farm systems.

Terraregen operates from Gulu City with demonstration activity in Gulu and Omoro Districts. The enterprise brings together regenerative crop production, aquaculture, livestock, organic inputs, farmer training, and monitoring so communities and partners can see practical climate-smart agriculture in action.

  • Integrated crop, fish, poultry, goat, rabbit, and guinea pig systems.
  • Compost, liquid manure, mulch, crop residues, and nutrient cycling.
  • Water-smart irrigation and fish-pond water reuse for production resilience.
  • Demonstration and training pathways for smallholders, youth, women, cooperatives, NGOs, and institutions.

Circular Farm Model

Nothing is wasted. Each enterprise strengthens the next.

The Terraregen model links livestock, compost, crops, fish water, and income into one practical circular production system.

🐐

Livestock

Goats, poultry, rabbits, and guinea pigs generate manure and cashflow.

♻️

Organic inputs

Compost and liquid manure rebuild soil fertility and reduce input costs.

🌱

Crops & fodder

Vegetables, bananas, fodder, and residues feed people, markets, and animals.

πŸ’§

Fish & water reuse

Fish ponds support protein, income, and nutrient-rich irrigation water.

Terraregen Circular Farm System

Conventional pressure

  • Single enterprise exposure
  • Rain-fed dependency
  • Chemical input reliance
  • Low margins and volatile cashflow
  • Soil extraction over regeneration

Terraregen advantage

  • Integrated enterprises with multiple income streams
  • Water-smart production and reuse
  • Organic inputs and nutrient cycling
  • Demonstration learning and replication support
  • Long-term soil health and climate resilience

Demonstration Sites

Two visible farm sites proving intensive and land-based regenerative models.

Terraregen's sites are designed for production, learning, monitoring, market development, and partner confidence.

Integrated fish pond system at Terraregen Site 1

Gulu City Intensive Model

A compact, high-intensity demonstration model combining vegetables, fish ponds, rabbits, guinea pigs, compost, and liquid manure production.

  • Hybrid tomatoes with drip irrigation and mulch.
  • Tilapia and catfish ponds integrated with water reuse.
  • Small livestock supporting cashflow and nutrient loops.
Goat enterprise at Lakwatomer Omoro District Site 2

Lakwatomer, Omoro District

A one-acre expansion site focused on goat enterprise, banana and fodder systems, soil regeneration trials, and larger-site replication learning.

  • Goat enterprise and manure-based fertility.
  • Banana, fodder, and soil restoration trials.
  • Learning platform for district-level replication.

Operational Footprint

Core Programs

A practical regenerative agriculture platform, not a single farm activity.

Regenerative crop production
Crops

Regenerative Crop Production

Vegetables, bananas, fodder, mulch, compost, crop diversity, and production discipline for market supply.

Aquaculture and fish pond systems
Aquaculture

Fish Pond Systems

Tilapia and catfish ponds integrated with irrigation reuse, household nutrition, and seasonal income.

Goat enterprise and small livestock systems
Livestock

Small Livestock

Goats, poultry, rabbits, and guinea pigs support breeding stock, manure, protein, and cashflow diversity.

Compost and organic inputs
Soil

Organic Inputs

Compost, liquid manure, crop residues, and soil restoration products made from local farm resources.

Poultry enterprise
Cashflow

Poultry Pathways

Poultry systems add monthly cashflow, nutrients, manure, and training opportunities for youth and women.

Rabbit farming and demonstration training
Learning

Training & MEL

Demonstration learning, baseline tracking, digital monitoring, annual impact reporting, and adaptive management.

Business & Scaling Model

Built for earned revenue, partner support, and low-CAPEX replication.

Terraregen blends produce sales, livestock, fish harvests, organic inputs, training, advisory, and partner replication. This reduces reliance on one harvest cycle and improves resilience.

Impact Logic

Regeneration creates environmental, social, and economic value together.

🌍

Environmental

Improved soil organic matter, reduced erosion and runoff, water efficiency, and lower chemical fertilizer dependency.

πŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸŒΎ

Social

Women and youth participation, skills transfer, demonstration learning, and stronger farmer confidence.

πŸ’°

Economic

Diversified farm incomes, year-round production, lower input costs, and improved household resilience.

Who We Work With
