Declining soil fertility
Low organic matter and rising input costs weaken yields and margins.
Regenerating Land Β· Securing Water Β· Empowering Communities
Terraregen Solution develops practical regenerative agriculture models that combine crops, fish ponds, small livestock, organic inputs, water-smart irrigation, and demonstration learning across Northern Uganda.
The Challenge
Many smallholder farms depend on rain-fed production, costly chemical inputs, and single-enterprise income. Terraregen responds with integrated production systems that restore soil while creating practical income pathways.
Low organic matter and rising input costs weaken yields and margins.
Rain-fed farming increases exposure to dry spells and climate shocks.
Few local demonstration sites show how to build profitable circular farms.
About Terraregen
Terraregen operates from Gulu City with demonstration activity in Gulu and Omoro Districts. The enterprise brings together regenerative crop production, aquaculture, livestock, organic inputs, farmer training, and monitoring so communities and partners can see practical climate-smart agriculture in action.
Circular Farm Model
The Terraregen model links livestock, compost, crops, fish water, and income into one practical circular production system.
Goats, poultry, rabbits, and guinea pigs generate manure and cashflow.
Compost and liquid manure rebuild soil fertility and reduce input costs.
Vegetables, bananas, fodder, and residues feed people, markets, and animals.
Fish ponds support protein, income, and nutrient-rich irrigation water.
Demonstration Sites
Terraregen's sites are designed for production, learning, monitoring, market development, and partner confidence.
Site 1
A compact, high-intensity demonstration model combining vegetables, fish ponds, rabbits, guinea pigs, compost, and liquid manure production.
Site 2
A one-acre expansion site focused on goat enterprise, banana and fodder systems, soil regeneration trials, and larger-site replication learning.
Operational Footprint
Terraregen's current field presence is centred around Gulu City / Gulu District and Lakwatomer in Omoro District, creating practical hubs for regenerative agriculture, circular farming demonstrations, buyer engagement, training, and partner-supported replication.
Core Programs
Vegetables, bananas, fodder, mulch, compost, crop diversity, and production discipline for market supply.
Tilapia and catfish ponds integrated with irrigation reuse, household nutrition, and seasonal income.
Goats, poultry, rabbits, and guinea pigs support breeding stock, manure, protein, and cashflow diversity.
Compost, liquid manure, crop residues, and soil restoration products made from local farm resources.
Poultry systems add monthly cashflow, nutrients, manure, and training opportunities for youth and women.
Demonstration learning, baseline tracking, digital monitoring, annual impact reporting, and adaptive management.
Business & Scaling Model
Terraregen blends produce sales, livestock, fish harvests, organic inputs, training, advisory, and partner replication. This reduces reliance on one harvest cycle and improves resilience.
Impact Logic
Improved soil organic matter, reduced erosion and runoff, water efficiency, and lower chemical fertilizer dependency.
Women and youth participation, skills transfer, demonstration learning, and stronger farmer confidence.
Diversified farm incomes, year-round production, lower input costs, and improved household resilience.
Who We Work With
Terraregen is seeking grant funding, impact investment, technical collaborators, market and off-take partners, training institutions, district partnerships, NGOs, and farmer groups.
